Jonathan Harrison is a renowned expert in the field of alcoholism, drawing from over five decades of personal and professional experience. His journey began with his own struggles and those of his first wife, who tragically succumbed to alcoholism. THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK<\/h2><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

In May of 2025, I received a referral from a long-time business associate to meet with a client of his regarding a book on Alcoholism with a different twist than the thousands of other books on this subject.<\/p>\n

The difference was about Enablers, those who help the alcoholic continue to function and thrive as an alcoholic.<\/p>\n

We met in person later in the month, and I explained how I work with authors to produce and promote their books. Within a few days, I submitted a quote for the production and marketing. After reviewing the quote with his wife, they decided not to move forward.<\/p>\n

We corresponded over the next few weeks, and I offered to purchase the copyright from the author and pay him a royalty on all books sold. The author accepted, an agreement was signed, and production of the book started in June.<\/p>\n

The author is an expert on alcoholism through his almost five decades of experience with Al-Anon. He was an enabler for his first wife, who, unfortunately, died of alcoholism.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that for every alcoholic, there are approximately four enablers. When you combine the two, about \u00bd of our country are alcoholicOOKs or enablers. The book is positioned to inform and reduce the number of people who identify as either one or the other.<\/p>\n

The author wrote a book on alcoholism in 2010 that sold out its initial print run. From that point on, he worked on a second book, which he finished earlier in 2025.<\/p>\n

As I reviewed the manuscript, I realized I could not release the book as is, regardless of the amount of editing. We wanted to keep the author’s spirit and voice, but update the science, citations, examples, and more.<\/p>\n

After my original edit, the manuscript was sent to a medical editor, a scientist with over 40 years of experience in both roles. She fine-tuned everything.<\/p>\n

By October 2025, we were all comfortable with the final version and released the book on October 14, 2025.<\/p>\n
